About the Department
 

The Section of Hematology/Oncology has a proud and long tradition of excellence in research-based patient care and clinical discovery. Ranked among the finest cancer programs in the country, the Section is comprised of nationally and internationally known faculty with expertise in all major types of malignancies, blood disorders, and experimental therapies.


Job Summary
 

The Staff Scientist plans, executes, facilitates and promotes advanced technical/scientific research projects. Recognizes the need for innovation and develops or incorporates advances in research concepts, methodologies and approaches.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and tests new equipment, instruments, reagents, and/or experimental protocols for research (including hardware, software, statistical methods, etc.).

  • Collaborates with other researchers as appropriate.

  • Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and (co-)authors scientific research manuscripts.

  • May supervise other research staff.

  • May present work at scientific meetings, and provide peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts.

  • Serves as a resource for collecting data and performing analysis. Facilitates and promotes a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information.

  • Develops laboratory protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications
 

Education:

Minimum requirements include a PhD in related field.
