Position Overview

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering (KIE) has an immediate opening for a dynamic Senior Civil/Roadway Designer in our growing Design Engineering Services (DES) Group based in Lone Tree, Colorado. You will be part of our rapidly growing Infrastructure Design Department, which includes structural, geotechnical, civil, drainage, roadway, rail, and materials disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the Design-Build/Alternative delivery of infrastructure projects.

Location

This role will be based out of Kiewit’s Lone Tree, Colorado (South Denver area) office.

Responsibilities

•    Work with the engineering team developing preliminary and final design plans and details
•    Participate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendations
•    Supervise, mentor, and evaluate junior staff
•    Create surface models utilizing OpenRoads Designer, InRoads, Civil 3D and/or other similar design software conforming to KIE procedures.
•    Participate in interdisciplinary design coordination to ensure that project elements are compatible
•    Create preliminary design concepts and alternatives for highways and civil features to support cost estimating
•    Support project communications and technical meetings, provide coordination to resolve design issues
•    Produce documents with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
•    Have a working knowledge of SharePoint, ProjectWise, and/or AutoCAD Construction Cloud.

Qualifications

•    Associates Degree in Civil Engineering or related field,
•    Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing,
•    15+ years of civil / highway design and modeling experience,
•    Experience mentoring junior staff,
•    Design experience for Design-Build and alternative delivery projects,
•    Knowledge of engineering principles and materials for highway/civil work,
•    Working knowledge of AASHTO, A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets, 7th Edition,
•    Working knowledge of USDOT/FHWA, MUTCD for Streets and Highways, 2009 Edition,
•    Working knowledge of AASHTO, Roadside Design Guide, 4th Edition,
•    Experience using Open Roads Designer (ORD) CAD Platform,
•    Experience developing construction plans for transportation projects
