The Manager of Student Programs plays a pivotal role in helping students navigate the complexities involved in pursuing a healthcare profession and doing research. This position will aid both the Office of Pre-Health Advising and Mentoring (Pre-Health) and Office of Undergraduate Research and Community Outreach (UGR) by directly overseeing the development and facilitation of collaborative projects, programs, and services that provide essential resources, information, and support to help students succeed throughout their undergraduate education and into their desired professional careers. This position will work collaboratively with other office personnel and campus partners to ensure the below responsibilities are administered appropriately.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Performs duties and responsibilities under minimal supervision)

Office Management (Pre-Health and Undergraduate Research)

• Oversee the day-to-day programmatic operations, including scheduling appointments, responding to inquiries, and overseeing student activities.
• Greets visitors and callers with office services, handles inquiries, and directs them to the appropriate program coordinators according to their needs.
• Develop and implement strategic initiatives and policies to enhance the advising and mentoring programs in Pre-Health and doing research in UGR.
• Cultivate research opportunities for undergraduate students on the medical campus.
• Manage database of pre-health student information and track their progress towards meeting application requirements for medical school or other healthcare professional programs.
• Provide administrative oversight for the committee letter process.
• Maintain current knowledge of the professional and academic requirements for the various health professions.
• Assists students initiate a Pre-Health file, codes students in the university system, and provides access to Blackboard site.
• Manage recruitment, training, and supervision for program coordinators and advisors, ensuring their ongoing professional development and adherence to best practices.
• Make recommendations to the Assistant Provost regarding hiring and performance management as appropriate.
• Develop job descriptions with the Assistant Provost and serve as the liaison with Human Resources on staffing for the office including leave of absences, hiring, onboarding, separations, and position changes.

Student Programming/ Support Services

• Oversee comprehensive advising programs, workshops, student organizations, and events to educate and inform students about various career paths, admission requirements, application processes, and professional development opportunities both in pre-health and undergraduate research.
• Review and implement relevant technology tools to support and enhance the advising and management processes.
• Support integration of advising practices into the College's student success platform, Navigate.
• Provides leadership on the development of appropriate pre-professional advising service models and activities.
• Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop joint initiatives, such as research opportunities, internships, and community engagement projects, to support the holistic development of all undergraduates with a focus on pre-health students.
• Stay updated with current trends, developments, and changes in graduate and professional school education, including admission requirements, emerging careers, advancements in healthcare education, and standardized testing (e.g., MCAT,GRE) policies/ procedures and their impact on undergraduate students.

Pre-Health Post-Baccalaureate Administration

• Manage recruitment and enhancement in the current post-baccalaureate program.
• Manage recruit efforts of prospective students through outreach visits at career fair
