Job Description Summary

               

The Associate Designer - Engineering will contribute to designs using industry standard 2D and 3D CAD software. They will work regularly with a project team and need to coordinate work with other designers and engineers. The ideal candidate will be able to efficiently run design software, have an eye for detail; and be able to develop creative solutions to challenges in equipment layout as well as construction and equipment design standards. Additional duties may include field design/installation oversight activities, as well as an opportunity to assist in the implementation and training of others in the use of new AutoDesk software, including Vault, PDM and ThinClient.

Job Description

  • Develop and maintain drawing standards and design strategies.
  • Craft models and drawings of facility and equipment using CAD.
  • Teach others to read and interpret 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Improve existing products and processes.
  • Maintain accurate records.
  • Assist other department engineers in creating practical demonstrations of proposed solutions.
  • Assist and support development and implementation of departmental initiatives.
  • Ensure all designs executed adhere to company specifications.
  • Recognize, document, and promote best practices.
  • Be a design resource for the project managers and project engineers.
  • Manage AutoDesk Vault and ThinClient user permissions
  • Maintain the ServiceNow knowledge base documentation.
  • Create and manage upgrade protocol for AutoDesk products including Vault
  • Maintain the Vault links to ACC (AutoDesk Construction Cloud) for project utilization with outside resources.

Scope:

  • This position will operate as part of a project team as well as the design team to deliver drawings for construction and standard detail design.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Education/ Certifications:

  • CAD or IT focused Associate degree is preferred.

Skills and Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience using CAD software in a work setting.
  • Excellent computer and technical aptitude.
  • Able to pick up new skills at a fast past.
  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a design team.
  • Demonstrated time and task management skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good computational and spatial ability.
  • Proficient in Microsoft desktop applications such as Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time on average.

Incumbent must have the ability to effectively perform all of the following physical demands without assistance:

  • Sitting or standing for up to 12 hours a day (sometimes greater than 12 hours), frequently in a construction environment.
  • Lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (up to 25 pounds infrequently).
  • Walking on various manufacturing facility surfaces, frequently in a construction environment.
  • Climbing up ladders and stairs, frequently in a construction environment.
  • Accessing difficult to reach locations, frequently in a construction environment.
  • Exposed to plant and construction noises and vibrations.
  • Temperature changes from hot to cold depending on work
