Position Summary:

Manages and directs the operations of Halperns’ seafood production rooms.

Essential Functions:

• Develops and implements policies and procedures for various warehouse / production activities including verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials and maintenance of a current inventory.

• Performs inspections of physical condition of warehouse and equipment.  Prepares work orders for repairs or requisitions for replacement of equipment.

• Collaborates with department heads in the coordination of warehouse activities with other functions including production, sales, records control and purchasing.

• Directs salvage of damaged or used material.

• Collaborates in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities.

• Provides leadership, ensures adherence to Halperns’  policies and procedures and apply corrective action when required.

• Interviews, hires, train, and retain staff.  Conducts performance monitoring of staff, initiating follow through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.  Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.

• Develops capital and operational budget for the department.  Routinely monitors, manages and controls budget, analyzes variances and takes appropriate action and develops plans for productivity improvements.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

• Must have good written, verbal, organizational and communication skills as well as problem-solving capabilities.

• Must have ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.

• Must have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and be able to work independently or within a team environment.

• Must be able to perform fundamental mathematical functions including concepts of  basic algebra and geometry.

• Must be able to develop solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity and reference policies and practices for guidance.

• Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications.

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

• Desktop or laptop computer.

• Networked printer/ copier/ scanner.

• Google Applications (Chrome, Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, etc.)

• Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer) 

• Telephone and Voicemail.

Minimum Years of Experience:

At least 3  years of experience as either a production or warehouse manager at another Processing plant/company.

Employees in all warehouse positions must be able to immediately perceive auditory warning signals such as bells, alarms, and horns that are used to warn employees of the start-up, movement, or approach of equipment (including forklifts, turrets, overhead cranes, conveyors, trucks, and other equipment operated inside or ou
