Role Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable Senior Accountant who can increase department accuracy and efficiency. This role will be responsible for various accounting tasks such as general accounting operations, financial transactions, bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end procedures, and sales tax filing. A successful Senior Accountant should be analytical, detail-oriented, and honest. The ideal individual should possess excellent interpersonal skills and a strong understanding of accounting and management principles.


Lead Responsibilities

  • Leads by setting a good example (role model) – behavior consistent with words.
  • Develops, trains, and directs employees in all aspects of their job, including maintenance plans for all departmental equipment to ensure that the equipment is always in operating condition.
  • Facilitates problem-solving and collaboration.
  • Strives for team consensus and win-win agreements.
  • Intervenes when necessary to aid the group in resolving issues.
  • Ensures that the team member’s issues are resolved quickly to avoid delays or missing goals.
  • Encourages constant improvement.

  • Communicates discipline and performance feedback as needed.
  • Communicates all department production flow and workload concerns to the manager to ensure the completion of all daily orders.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates, develops, and improves departmental controls, systems, and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency. 
  • Participates in the monthly closing process. 
  • Prepares monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements. 
  • Maintains the general ledger. 
  • Accurately processes month-end, year-end, and significant projects within established timelines. 
  • Ensures that all accounting processes comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and current financial legislation. 
  • Maintains accurate and complete financial records and performs audits or reconciliations, as necessary. 
  • Assists other departments in developing strategies, establishing objectives, and making decisions that could impact the business financially. 
  • Prepares and files monthly and quarterly sales tax returns for multiple states. 
  • Assists with various projects and reports as required or requested. 
  • Prepares monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned or required.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Must have Distribution, Wholesale, or Manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with Audits and ERP systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, highly efficient and accurate.
  • Strong understanding of accounting, finance, and management principles.
  • Exceptional math skills, computer proficiency, and MS Office (advanced Excel skills).
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze copious amounts of data.
  • Computer literate; Proficient with MS Office 365.  
  • Ability to effectively communicate [written and verbal]. 
  • Thrives in a collaborative team environment. 
  • A detail-oriented work style, comfortable with multiple priorities being juggled while maintaining a consistent work approach.
