Position Overview:
The Human Resources Coordinator performs diversified duties supporting the Human Resources Department including processing, verifying, and maintaining personnel related documentation; recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, classifications and employee leaves of absence; explaining company personnel policies, benefits, and procedures to employees or job applicants in the absence of the HR Business Partner and HR Manager; and examining employee files to answer inquiries and provide information for personnel actions.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in compiling and preparing reports and documents pertaining to personnel activities.
- Requests information from previous employers and other references to determine applicant’s employment acceptability.
- Assists in processing and reviewing employment applications to evaluate qualifications or eligibility of applicants.
- Assists in arranging for advertising or posting of job vacancies and notifying eligible workers of positions availability.
- Reviews timesheets and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies and submits it to the supervisor for verification.
- Entertains inquiries from the applicants and give detail and accurate response.
- Maintains company and office bulletin boards in an up-to-date and legal compliance manner.
- Assists in arranging for in-house and external training activities.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
Core Competencies:
- Some knowledge of HIPPA, FMLA, ADA, ERISA, and COBRA
- Positive, professional and forthright manner of communication, with strong listening skills
- Working knowledge of company internal controls and Policies and Procedures
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Excellent oral and written skills.
- Must have working ability with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Knowledge/Work Experience:
- Must be 21 years or older
- BA/BS in related field or equivalent relevant experience may substitute for degree
- One (1) years of related experience in Human Resources
- Previous experience in casino resort and/or hospitality strongly preferred
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate license through the New York State Gaming Commission
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as policy and procedure manuals and other related documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other Team Members or guests. Fluency in English required. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
