KEY OBJECTIVE

To be responsible to the Facilities Technician I and II to keep all buildings, grounds, and equipment in good repair and operating efficiently.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Put tools and equipment away in proper place after each use.
  • Clean up work area when task is completed – in the field and in the shop.
  • Keep tools and equipment in safe and good working condition.
  • Maintain a neat and organized inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Enter proper documentation of work performed, that is neat and legible.
  • Promptly address “Maint” work requests, and reply appropriately.
  • Check boilers and/or air conditioners.
  • Check air pressure in all power equipment with tires; more often if necessary.
  • Do plumbing, electrical, and structural repair to all buildings as needed.
  • Do general grounds work, including weeding and snow removal.
  • Mow grass as needed. Trim grass around trees, poles, buildings, and other items the same day that an area is mowed.
  • Plant and maintain trees and shrubs. Prune trees and shrubs as needed with chainsaw, hand saw, and pruning shears.
  • Plant and maintain flowerbeds.
  • Control pests and diseases on all outdoor plants.
  • Fertilize grass, trees, shrubs, and flowers as needed.
  • Maintain and repair existing sprinkler system.
    • Operate sprinkler system as needed and water specific areas with hoses.
    • Install new sprinkler lines and sprinklers.
  • Pick up trash, branches, or other debris on grounds and properly dispose of items.
  • Repair and do preventative maintenance of equipment.
    • Service motors, belts, bearings, and blowers.
    • Replace filters at scheduled intervals.
    • Wash air conditioner condenser coils annually.
    • Change oil in compressors.
    • Do seasonal inspections and start-up of boilers and air conditioning equipment.
    • Maintain correct operation and function of condensate pans and drains.
    • Perform routine inspections and document results for regulatory bodies.
    • Perform scheduled maintenance on other equipment, such as sewage and sump pumps, and circulating pumps.
    • Maintain perpetual filter and belt inventory.
  • Maintain, repair, and do upkeep of grounds equipment.
    • Check oil and other fluids each day before using power equipment.
    • Perform and document oil changes at prescribed intervals for mowers, tractors, sprayer, rototiller, and other grounds equipment.
    • Maintain mowing equipment, including sharpening blades, greasing the equipment, changing filters, checking batteries, and other tasks as needed.
    • Keep equipment free of dirt, grass accumulation, and debris as needed.
    • Perform minor repairs on grounds equipment. Purchase items needed for repairs.
    • Operate grounds equipment in a safe and careful manner.
    • Use hand tools with care. Clean and put away tools after use.
  • Do minor tune-up and repair on Prairie View vehicles as needed.
    • Monitor vehicle mileage and schedule service at scheduled intervals.
    • Check oil in vehicles and document results on a weekly basis.
    • Maintain accurate service records for all vehicles.
  • On call as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education:  High school diploma or equi
