As the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist supporting the Marketing Category, you will be a key member of Medtronic’s center-led Indirect Supply Management (ISM) team and you will be responsible for managing and influencing Marketing spend. This is a global role that allows you to partner with stakeholders across many functions, regions, and businesses to drive value. The position will report to the Global ISM Sourcing Manager for Marketing. Strong business acumen and prior sourcing experience are a must as you will be called upon to support engagements with strategic partners. 

A Day in the Life

As the Sr. Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you will:

  • Partner closely with marketing stakeholders across all Medtronic Operating Units to understand their needs and drive value to maximize impact within given budgets
  • Analyze spend data to monitor compliance to preferred supplier rosters and identify opportunities to drive value across the entire marketing portfolio of ~200M
  • Work autonomously to build trusted and strategic partnerships with stakeholders and suppliers
  • Develop and support the implementation of sourcing strategies that result in a sustainable competitive advantage
  • Lead supplier relationship management activities for Marketing categories
  • Lead supplier negotiation efforts and strategic contract negotiations
  • Achieve year-on-year value improvements
  • Lead and support RFx events for Marketing
  • Gather and stay up to date on market intelligence and industry trends 
  • Educate and train stakeholders on key indirect supply management initiatives and policies
  • Engage and influence stakeholders in the US, EMEA, LATAM, APAC, and Greater China regions to adopt and implement global strategies and share best practices across the globe

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience


Nice to Have

  • Indirect sourcing experience (Marketing, Professional Services, IT, Financial Services, Legal Services, Facilities, etc.) preferred, however will consider the right candidate with only direct materials experience
  • Experience reviewing and drafting legal agreements
  • Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills and ability to drive actionable insights from data
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Prior experience leading RFPs and contract negotiations
