This position works at the Ruan Campus located downtown Des Moines, IA

 

The Manager, Corporate Accounting manages all aspects of the general ledger and the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. This role is responsible for managing a team to ensure the work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. Additionally, they contribute to process improvements and help implement new accounting standards and system enhancements.

 

Responsibilities:

Carrying out the Company's organizational values and operating in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and Company policies are required functions. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Supervise and provide leadership to build and maintain a strong team through effective communications, recruiting, training, coaching, counseling, apprising, rewarding, developing, and succession planning. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the general ledger to ensure journal entries are recorded accurately and reconciliations are performed in accordance with company policies; maintains the schedule for the month-end close process.
  • Manage and oversee the production of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or internal financial reporting standards. Completes initial review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports prior to Controller review.
  • Responsible for the accounting and allocation of self-insurance program costs; works with broker to ensure needed information is provided in accordance with the appropriate timelines.
  • Manage and oversee the fixed asset and debt systems to ensure they are appropriately maintained and accurate.
  • Manage and oversee daily cash transfers and reconciliations to ensure they are performed in accordance with policies.
  • Facilitates the annual audit process and is the primary point of contact for internal and external audit.
  • Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
Qualifications

Job Requirements/Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education: Bachelors or equivalent work experience

Course of Study: Accounting or related filed

Experience: 3-5years

Type of Experience: Accounting experience, including internal controls

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have excellent knowledge of accounting and finance functions and attention to detail.
