The Residential Milieu Manager plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the daily operations and therapeutic environment of a residential health care facility. This position ensures that all residents receive compassionate, high-quality care within a safe and structured setting that promotes recovery and well-being. The manager is responsible for coordinating multidisciplinary teams, implementing individualized treatment plans, and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards. By fostering a positive and supportive milieu, the manager helps create an atmosphere conducive to healing and personal growth for residents. Ultimately, this role drives the continuous improvement of service delivery and operational efficiency within the residential program.

Essential Job Functions

  • Provides overall management and leadership of residential milieus and staff.
  • Works collaboratively with Clinical Manager, Case Manager, Director, and other members of leadership team to ensure consistency and continuity between education, milieu, and clinical teams. 
  • Supervises shift supervisors and the overall functionality of the cottage.  
  • Provide on-the-floor coaching, observations, and group supervision opportunities as needed. 
  • Responsible for ensuring that social, emotional, and behavioral interventions are being provided in a trauma sensitive and developmentally appropriate manner. 
  • Oversight of training provided to YTC’s, including but not limited to, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Attachment, Regulation and Competency (ARC) Framework, and Motivational Interviewing. 
  • Participation in inter-departmental meetings, including child team meetings, weekly debriefs, all residential meetings and team building activities.
  • Ensures implementation compliance of all state licensing regulations and accreditations. 
  • Oversight of administrative tasks such as documentation, including daily logs, critical incident reports, and SWIS data. 
  • Oversight of QMAP qualifications for staff and agency. 

Other Job Functions

  • Participates in organizational trainings and meetings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be willing/able to participate in physical restraints.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a pre-hire physical.
  • Implement behavioral interventions as needed.

Working Conditions

  • On-campus environment, residential and community-based settings  
  • Position required to be on-site 100% of time.
  • Minimal travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BA degree in a Human Services field or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • At minimum 3 years related experience in a residential setting with children 6-12 y/o with emotional disabilities and other learning challenges. 
  • All candidates must have (or qualify to obtain) a current Colorado driver's license.
  • Ability to be Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) trained and TCI refreshers maintained over the course of employment.
  • Must have a working understanding of trauma informed care principles. 
  • Must have or be able to obtain QMAP certification.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Strong organizational, management and collaboration skills required.
