Production Support Engineer - Equities Technology

Millennium’s Production Engineering team is responsible for the production systems, including Trading, Post-Trade, and PnL software, environment management, and software deployment. We work closely with a variety of other Technology teams at Millennium, including Level 1 Trade App Support, Developers, QA Testers, and Infrastructure Technology, as well as with Portfolio Managers and Traders.

The key strategy for Production Engineering revolves around automation logic and tools, to manage a continually larger enterprise footprint. We use a combination of in-house and industry-standard tools for configuration and application deployment solutions, and leverage frameworks which can quickly provide a holistic view of the overall platform. We provide significant value-add during the release process, and ensure quality software gets delivered in a timely manner.

Principal Responsibilities

• Solve technical trading-related issues, independently where possible or leveraging teammates as necessary. Escalate to application and/or infrastructure subject matter experts (internally or at vendors) when appropriate. Manage communications to the trading staff and internal stakeholders regarding issue/resolution.

• Collaborate with other technical support engineers who may need assistance working on an issue; utilize his/her area of expertise to help others in order to most quickly facilitate solutions for the customer.

• Build working relationships with trading groups, especially so those based in US but also those in Europe and APAC. Work with global counterparts to provide seamless global coverage.

• Trading Infrastructure / Platform Status Communications – disseminate messages to the appropriate trading staff regarding trading infrastructure / platform issues, exchange updates, etc.

• Uplift environment management tools to reduce risk and streamline efficiency of Support team.

• Assist with automating processes to achieve efficiency and streamlined trade support.

• Document and create new knowledge base to provide the most effective solutions to trading issues.

• Deployment of, support of, and monitoring of the firm’s internal trading systems.

• Coordinate with vendors, internal application owners, infrastructure owners, and tech support to ensure trading platforms are correctly installed, configured, and tested.

• Liaise with development and infrastructure teams, prioritize tool enhancements, and coordinate and participate in software/new version releases.

Qualifications Required

• Hands on experience with Python, bash, or other Linux shell scripting technologies.

• Experience supporting applications, including ability to debug issues by using log files and Linux shell commands.

• Able to manage multiple application environments that can each scale to dozens of hosts.

• Able to work in a fast-paced global team as individual contributor.

• Need to be able to multitask across simultaneous projects.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Experience with version control systems (GIT a plus).

• Familiarity with, and proponent of, the SDLC process.

• Strong multi-tasking analytics skills, and ability to proactively identify issues before they become major problems.

• Detail-oriented, demonstrating thoroughness and strong ownership of work.

• Quick learner with a demonstrated strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them.

• Experience in financial technology, sql, and nosql databases a plus.

• Experience with colocation a plus.

• Experience with multicast a plus.

• Experience managing software on AWS a plus.

Millennium pays a total compensation package which includes a base salary, discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The estimated base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $175,000, which is specific to New York and may change in the future. When finalizing an offer, we take into consideration an individual’s experience level and the qualifications they bring to the role to formulate a competitive total compensation package.
