Job Description

The Production Manager’s main function is to ensure the efficient and timely production of wire rope that meets customer requirements. This role is the connecting link between Safety, Quality and Scheduling. The Production Manager will motivate team members to meet organizational goals for product quality and production output while continually implementing a lean manufacturing process.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support health & safety culture by enforcing safety policies and procedures.
  • Execute the production plan without comprising employee safety or product quality.
  • Collaborate with Scheduling and Maintenance departments to achieve maximum efficiency and minimal downtime.
  • Direct the flow of product and equipment in a Lean / continuous improvement setting.
  • Ensures that departmental and support personnel are focused on continuous improvement and supports lean culture of products and processes
  • Enforce, promote, monitor and develop a safe work environment ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws relating to environment, health and safety. Implement safety and quality policies and standards and attain established goals.
  • Actively seek process improvement solutions to increase output.
  • Problem-solve and remove daily road blocks to meet goals and objectives.
  • Support quality-at-the-source system by ensuring output meets quality standards and implementing quality initiatives as necessary.
  • Assist Plant Manager with production and financial-related decision-making (e.g. capacity planning, budgeting, etc.) and execute accordingly.
  • Manages systems and processes based on lean principles that will produce product to industry-leading quality levels.
  • Coach, mentor and develop Production Supervisors, and other key personnel for professional growth.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, including utilizing overtime to sufficiently cover production requirements.
  • Conduct employee evaluations and issue discipline as required.
  • Communicate production goals and initiatives to key personnel. Provide support and guidance as necessary.
  • Support plant-wide initiatives.
  • Execute special projects – delegate and monitor progress as appropriate.
  • Regular attendance, punctuality and the ability to work scheduled shifts including overtime when necessary.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2-3 years advanced education, Associate Degree, technical training or equivalent work
  • 5-10 years' work experience
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), ERP system (e.g. JDE Oracle, etc.)
  • Work independently without close supervision
  • Flexible/adaptable to constant change
  • Strong tact and diplomacy; ability to interact with all levels of personnel
  • Highly organized; ability to handle multiple concurrent as
