IT Administrator and Information System Security Officer (2595)

Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting an IT Administrator in Las Cruces, NM.

This position wil be responsible for providing a variety of systems support functions for the Environmental program at NASA White Sands Test Facility. As a System Administrator, this position will be responsible for installation, configuration and management of Industrial Control Systems servers; troubleshooting issues and outages, performing backups, and upgrading systems as needed. As an Information System Security Officer, this position is responsible for writing and maintaining the System Security Plan and ensuring security through access controls. The ISSO must be proficient with NIST documentation, especially SP 800-53R5, SP 800-37, FIPS, and FISMA documentation. The IT Administrator must become familiar with the requirements of the Environmental department and provide support to environmental personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Serve as System Administrator for Environmental Remediation System

• Knowledge of Windows Server 2016 and above operating system
• Installing and configuring software, hardware and networks
• Monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues
• Manage network servers and technology tools
• Set up accounts and workstations
• Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
• Troubleshoot issues and outages
• Ensure security through access controls and backups
• Upgrade systems with new releases and models

Serve as Information System Security Officer (ISSO)

• Be familiar (or become familiar) with FIPS 199 and FIPS 200
• Be familiar (or become familiar) with SP 800-53R5, 800-37, 800-82 and others
• Be familiar (or become familiar) with FISMA
• Maintain Security Plan at NASA required levels
• Perform Vulnerability Scans
• Perform Continuous Monitoring of all systems within the ERS Boundary

Serve as IT Administrator for Environmental contractor

• Provide IT support to all Environmental contractor personnel.
• Assist with service requests
• Provide assistance through departmental help desk
• Maintain Elevated Privileges and EP Access to all personnel compute seats
• Help install software
• Maintain IT related WJI and WSIs

Ensure security and efficiency of IT infrastructure

Requirements

• Microsoft System Administrator or equivalent hand-on experience
• Basic IT Security (SANS or something similar)
• ICS security training or hands-on experience
• IT security related cert (CAP for the assessments, CISSP would be overkill) Knowledge of NIST SP 800* publications
• Basic SQL Database Administration skills - knowledge of T-SQL query language
• Basic knowledge of Archer/RISCS (it takes time to tame that beast)
