Project Overview

The Mobile Launcher 2 (ML2) Project is to provide the design, procurement, construction, and start-up of a launch platform for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The purpose of ML2, located at Kennedy Space Center (KSC), is to provide a launch platform for the Space Launch System (SLS), an advanced launch vehicle that will fill America’s need for deep space missions. ML2 includes many different subsystems that must operate and fit within the constraints of the structure and provide physical interface with KSC launch sites’ ground systems.

 

Position Summary

The purpose of the Project Controls Planner / P6 Scheduler is to perform schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and analysis of activities. Supports project organizational and administrative activities when delegated. Supervises planning/scheduling activities when delegated. Ensures work is completed as scheduled and identifies construction schedule-associated cost trends for management attention.

 

Responsibilities

  • Determines schedule dates for work activities within a discipline area or specialty.
  • Determines milestones to support project schedule.
  • Works with Area/Functional personnel to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan.
  • Conforms work sequence and activity durations per project’s execution plan for a specific discipline or specialty.
  • Determines inter-discipline constraints or interfaces that define activity sequences.
  • Assists discipline groups in determining what information is required from other disciplines to support schedule activities and how to interface with the assigned discipline or specialty.
  • Provides schedule knowledge on a continuous basis to assist in discipline planning and interfacing with others.
  • Performs schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties. Assists in the development of requirements for updating and monitoring the schedule.
  • Complete all work in compliance with the ML2 project’s certified Earned Value Management System and corporate procedure requirements necessary to maintain the integration of the project’s resource loaded Integrated Master Schedule, Cost Processor, and associated software tools. 
  • Prepare routine performance reports and special studies related to assigned scope for presentation to project, corporate, and/or customer management team(s).
  • Identifies the scope of schedule activities.

 

Qualifications and Skills

Basic Qualifications

  • Level I: Bachelors from an accredited university and at least 1 year of professional experience or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and at least 7 years of professional experience.
  • Level II: Bachelors from an accredited university and at least 3 years of professional experience or, in lieu of a degree, a high school diploma and at least 9 years of professional experience.
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident of the US per contract requirements.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment and successfully go through a government screening process. Unescorted access approval is required.
  • Candidate must successfully clear government background check.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Skilled in oral and written communication.
  • Proficient in software applications such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and with minimal supervision.
