Job Summary

 

The Director of Patient Dining is responsible for directing the functions of Patient Food Services across the Prisma Health system in the Greenville market. These functions include management, education, training, and performance improvement of food service personnel. In coordination with the Director of Nutrition Systems, this role ensures compliance with all patient-related regulatory agencies, promotes patient satisfaction, and upholds strong public relations through the safe and efficient use of resources.

Key Responsibilities

 

• Coordinate and implement system-wide patient service programs based on medical direction, patient population, and contractual requirements.
• Hire, lead, direct, coach, train, and develop patient services managers and supervisors.
• Oversee evaluation, performance, and discipline of patient food services employees in accordance with departmental policy.
• Monitor competency, productivity, and documentation accuracy of patient service teams using available tools and resources.
• Visit patients on assigned units to ensure every patient is visited by a management or professional team member at least once during their stay.
• Support patient services staff in achieving stated patient satisfaction goals.
• Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and families through conferences, consultations, and committee participation.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Hospitality Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum 5 years of work experience, including at least 2 years in healthcare and 1 year in a managerial role.
• Certified Dietary Manager required if not degreed in Nutrition or Dietetics; Registered Dietitian preferred.
• ServSafe® Certified.
• Working knowledge of food and catering trends, emphasizing quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation.
• Strong supervisory, leadership, and coaching skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across management, client, customer, and associate levels.
• Solid financial and budgeting acumen.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and internet-based systems.
