  • Schedule: Swing shift, including weekends

  • Schedule benefit: Up to seven consecutive days off, depending on the rotation

  • Employment: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt

  • Work arrangement: Onsite

  • Pay: $27-$30 per hour, based on relevant experience

  • Shift premium: $2 per hour for all hours worked on the swing shift

  • Sign-on bonus: $3,000, paid at $500 per month for six months

  • Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

As an Industrial Maintenance Mechanic at MacLean-Fogg, you will diagnose equipment breakdowns, complete preventive maintenance, and repair machinery, utility systems, and facility equipment at our Savanna manufacturing operation.

This opportunity is open to experienced maintenance professionals, as well as mechanically inclined candidates with manufacturing experience who are ready to build industrial maintenance skills. You will use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, testing equipment, blueprints, and schematics to complete work safely and accurately.

What You Will Do

  • Diagnose and repair breakdowns involving manufacturing machinery, utility systems, and facility equipment

  • Perform preventive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime

  • Inspect equipment and identify worn, damaged, or malfunctioning components

  • Use hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and testing equipment safely

  • Read and apply equipment specifications, blueprints, schematics, manuals, and work instructions

  • Complete maintenance records, work orders, inspection forms, and other required documentation accurately

  • Communicate equipment conditions, repair status, safety concerns, and unresolved issues to the appropriate team members

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S standards

  • Follow all safety, environmental, quality, and lockout/tagout requirements

  • Support urgent equipment repairs and production needs during the assigned swing-shift schedule

  • Perform other related maintenance duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • At least one year of experience working in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude gained through employment, technical education, military service, or hands-on personal projects

  • Ability to use common hand and power tools safely

  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written work instructions

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics

  • Ability to organize work, manage multiple priorities, and complete tasks independently

  • Ability to maintain clear and accurate maintenance records

  • Ability to communicate effectively with production employees, maintenance colleagues, and internal customers

  • Ability to work the full swing-shift rotation, including weekends

  • Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous industrial maintenance, machinery repair, or equipment-service experience

  • Technical-school coursework, apprenticeship training, or a certificate in industrial maintenance or a related trade

  • Previous powered-industrial-equipment certification

  • Experience using precision measuring or equipment-testing instruments

  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system

  • Work orders and maintenance records remain accurate and current

Physical Requirements

  • Use hands and fingers to operate tools, testing equipment, and machinery components

  • Maintain the manual dexterity required for mechanical repairs

  • Frequently lift, carry, push, pull, and move equipment or components weighing up to 50 pounds.
