Clinical Cost Strategy Manager

We are an independent, global, one-stop-shop focused on delivering Central Laboratory Services that are tailor-made, timely and flexible to meet the evolving study demands of traditional to increasingly complex trials. Additionally, we provide Functional Service Provider (FSP) Solutions, supporting our clients with scientific and technical expertise, acting as an extension of their team, coordinating all laboratory related needs, advising on strategies for lab data collection and providing end-to-end analytical and logistical solutions.
The Manager, Clinical Cost Strategy is responsible for designing, managing, and communicating robust analytical frameworks to translate the clinical delivery operating model into transparent and actionable cost structures for outsourced clinical work. The role works cross-functionally with Strategic Partnerships and Outsourcing, Clinical Operations, Procurement and other internal/external stakeholder groups to ensure that cost modeling and analytics drive strategic decision-making, financial predictability and accuracy for clinical trials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Translate operating models, resourcing plans, and partnership arrangements into detailed cost frameworks for internal review and external supplier negotiations. Ensure frameworks are flexible and fit for purpose.
• Support development of contracting strategies with differing operating model approaches.
• Optimize and refine cost templates, standards, and analytical tools to support accurate, data-driven cost design, forecasting and accuracy for outsourced clinical activities.
• Act as a conduit between Strategic Partnerships and Outsourcing, Clinical Operations, Procurement, Finance, and external suppliers to ensure alignment on cost assumptions and transparency to develop contracting strategies.
• Collaborate with functional leads to translate scientific and operational requirements into clinical pricing tool(s); facilitate consensus on cost structure for outsourced work.
• Present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders at all organizational levels, supporting negotiation, scenario planning, and strategic investment decisions.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree required (BA/BS), ideally in a quantitative, scientific, or business field.
• Advanced degree or relevant certifications (e.g., MBA, CPA) preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, including clinical budget creation, negotiations, clinical cost modeling, or similar roles within pharma/biotech R&D or CRO.
• Demonstrated experience translating business/operating models into actionable cost structures.
Skills and Ability
• Proven ability to synthesize complex operating and scientific data into clear, strategic financial recommendations.
• Advanced skills with analytical, visualization, and business systems/tools (AI/ML, MS Excel, SharePoint, Tableau, SmartSuite, etc).
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and presentation skills.
• Experience working in a global, matrixed environment with cross-functional teams and external vendors.
