The The Lake Forest Place Team is seeking a dynamic Groundskeeper who will be maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the Lake Forest Place campus. This position supports a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing seasonal landscaping, routine grounds maintenance, and assisting with outdoor events or activities as needed.

Position Overview:
The Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the Lake Forest Place campus. This position supports a welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors by performing seasonal landscaping, routine grounds maintenance, and assisting with outdoor events or activities as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain facility grounds, including mowing, trimming, raking, and watering lawns and landscaped areas.

  • Perform routine edging of garden beds and walkways to keep borders clean and defined.

  • Fertilize soil and landscaped areas to promote healthy plant growth.

  • Water flowers, shrubs, and other greenery using irrigation systems or manual methods as needed.

  • Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and flower beds to maintain appearance and plant health.

  • Keep walkways, driveways, and outdoor areas free from leaves, litter, and other hazards.

  • Assist with seasonal landscaping tasks such as planting, mulching, and snow or ice removal.

  • Clear assigned areas of snow during winter months to ensure safe access.

  • Operate and maintain groundskeeping tools and equipment, such as trimmers, blowers, and lawn mowers.

  • Identify and report safety hazards or landscaping concerns to the Landscaping Supervisor.

  • Assist with setup and takedown for outdoor community activities and events.

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance team to uphold a high standard of facility care.

  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Presbyterian Homes Corporate Compliance policies, including confidentiality and concern for resident well-being.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Desire to work outdoors and perform physically active tasks in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe environment.

  • Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with other departments.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of elementary school education.

  • Three to six months of groundskeeping experience preferred, or will train on site.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift and carry shrubs and equipment weighing 20–50 pounds.

  • Push and pull lawn and snow equipment.

  • Frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl while caring for lawns, shrubs, and flowers.

  • Occasionally climb and balance while working on trees or elevated areas.

Working Conditions:

  • Exposure to dirt, dust, loud noise, and temperature extremes.

  • Work performed primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Hazards:

  • Potential risk of injury from tools, lawn equipment, and snow removal machinery.
