Job Description
SUMMARY
To provide a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and property through active patrolling, access control, incident response, and support of physical security operations. This role includes armed guard duties, basic investigative support, and occasional travel to regional facilities. Officers may support corporate executives as needed but are primarily responsible for maintaining a secure building environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned:
- Building Security Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of corporate headquarters and surrounding property to ensure security and identify potential risks or unauthorized activity.
- Access Control: Monitor entrances and exits, verify credentials, and ensure only authorized individuals are allowed into secure areas.
- Armed Presence: Serve as a visible deterrent and first line of response during potential threats; must be trained and certified to carry a firearm.
- Emergency Response: Respond to alarms, medical situations, or incidents on-site. Provide first aid or CPR as needed until emergency responders arrive.
- Incident Documentation: Complete clear and timely reports for incidents, suspicious activities, or policy violations.
- Security Monitoring: Assist with monitoring CCTV systems, badge access activity, and other physical security tools.
- De-escalation and Conflict Resolution: Intervene in disturbances using de-escalation techniques and sound judgment to maintain safety and order.
- Executive Support (Occasional): Assist with basic security coverage for visiting executives or during special events, under supervision of the security manager.
- Investigative Support: Assist corporate investigators with basic fact-gathering for internal theft, fraud, or property loss cases.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required; additional security training or military/law enforcement background preferred.
- 1–3 years of security, military, or law enforcement experience.
- Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid armed security officer license for North Carolina.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
- Must pass background check, drug screening, and firearms qualification.
- Basic first aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
- Strong observational, communication, and report writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and handle stressful or high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.
- Comfortable using radio systems, incident management software, and CCTV tools.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & SCHEDULE
• Based at corporate headquarters in Raleigh, NC
• Primarily stationed on-site with occasional local or regional travel
• Must be available for flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
