Overview

Job Summary

 

Oversee the direction and operation of Loss Prevention activities in a defined geographic area or division.   Effectively supervise Loss Prevention Investigator and Loss Prevention Specialists in assigned location to ensure effective coordination and management of loss prevention operations so as to identify and investigate all forms of shrink within the assigned area.  Oversee the liability interests of WinCo Foods as it pertains to General Liability.  Select, hire, train and mentor loss prevention personnel to meet the day-to-day business needs at the assigned locations.  Consistently provide friendly and engaging customer service to internal and external customers.  Perform related work.

 

Typical Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer. Provide exceptional customer service by telephone, email, and in person.
  • Provide leadership in loss prevention policy and procedure implementation in compliance with Federal, State and local regulatory requirements, through interaction with Department/Division Vice Presidents, Inventory Control Manager, Human Resources Department and peer Loss Prevention Supervisors. Establish goals, monitor progress and achievements. 
  • Direct a loss prevention team providing shrink reduction activities in retail locations including external and internal theft detection and reduction, procedural audits, cash handling audits, evidence collection/preservation and training, liaison between local law enforcement and the legal system.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to loss prevention personnel. Apply continuous improvement processes to enhance work flow, improve job skills, and individual knowledge of loss prevention operations. 
  • Offer and implement suggestions for improving efficiency.
  • Review monthly, all General Liability claims in each store for trends, problem areas and develop strategies to address areas of concern.
  • Supervise loss prevention personnel by motivating, training and participating in the hiring of personnel.
  • Monitor employee performance, motivate and mentor, take personnel action (i.e., hiring, firing, layoff and disciplinary action, schedule personnel according to coverage needs and service level), maintaining a safe and secure work environment, etc.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in leading, coaching and developing loss prevention personnel through consistency and follow-through of performance and employee related issues.
  • Ensure compliance of safety standards are maintained and adhered to consistently. Address potential safety hazards quickly. Possess an understanding of operations and equipment; coordinate emergency evacuations; communicate with outside emergency response teams.
  • Perform all job duties and responsibilities with honesty and integrity.

 Requirements

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of loss prevention, law enforcement or equivalent experience required.
  • Wicklander/Zulawski Interview/Interrogation Certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years investigative/related experience.
  • Minimum two (2) years management or leadership experience with responsibility for development and implementation of new processes.
  • Demonstrating detailed knowledge of closed circuit television (CCTV) camera systems and design.
  • Investigating and responding to internal issues with a high level of discretion.
  • Identifying and responding to external theft issues.
  • Understanding management’s needs and concerns and developing strategies to meet those needs.
