Our product operations teams create every shirt, every shoe, and every piece of equipment for thousands of athletes and fashion lovers as if it was one of a kind. And it truly is, as they weave their passion into every single product. But translating designs, drawings and renderings into real products requires a lot of decision making.
As Assistant Manager Materials Library you are a key contributor in the materials management team by servicing the materials library, materials management toolboxes, processes, systems, and sustainability for all Apparel & Footwear material types. In addition, this role ensures material samples, and all necessary information are available in a user-friendly format in the material library in Portland.
Key Responsibilities:
Materials Library
- Set up and maintain the materials library and work on continuously improving the setup and tools for the product creation teams.
- Ensure availability of material hangers re-order where necessary .
- Train and support cross-functional teams (Marketing, Design, Product Development, Materials Sustainability & Innovation) in using the materials library
- Create working tools for cross-functional team (boards, display areas, material rings etc.)
- Support the maintenance of relevant material information in respective adidas systems.
- Support sustainability strategy by promoting sustainable materials as defined.
Materials Toolbox
- Under the guidance of the team leader be a key contact and consultant for all material type related questions for all internal interfaces
- Contribute to all cross-functional discussions related to materials topics, actively participate in the material selection process where needed and support material consolidation to improve material efficiency
- Build and maintain a close relationship with interfaces such as Material Development, Material Sourcing, Quality and Suppliers
- Assist in ensuring correct materials data in MLM (technical data, cost, toolbox, lifecycle, sustainability call out)
- Cooperate with cross-functional team to provide a focused material toolbox
MLM System/ Tools/ Process/ Sustainability
- Align with the Herzo Material Systems & Library Team to support stakeholders in your area of responsibility on system, data quality, sustainability and tools
- Support data quality issues with stakeholders to ensure ongoing data accuracy by systems or processes improvements
- Support the evolution of material management processes as required
- Contribute to horizontal sharepoint for material development community (including Library sharepoint)
- Participate in the development of processes, structures and frameworks that support the implementation of smart solutions to improve the status quo.
Optional
- Support the material digitalization process.
- Consulting & coordinating role on material efficiency and foundation portfolio creation.
- Assist to the response of MLM business ticket requests.
- Support coordination of supplier visits

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication skills, especially when interacting with different levels of business.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish fact and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to anticipate problems, offers solutions, and address issues with materials in order to meet the Design team’s aesthetic goals and financial targets.
- Strong technical knowledge of Material/textile details
- Ability to efficiently learn and navigate respective business processes and IT systems.
- Ability to manage change.
- Very driven, results-oriented, accountable and self-sufficient approach to projects
- Accept and meet critical deadlines with good planning and organizational skills.
- Team player with ability to work with diverse groups of people in a productive manner.
- Fluent English (verbal and written)
