About the role

Position Summary

Dr. Sumru Atuk (Politics) seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented undergraduate student to serve as a Research Assistant. The student will contribute to a faculty research project in feminist political theory, social movements, and gender-based violence, with a focus on preparing a scholarly book manuscript for publication. This position offers hands-on experience with academic research, writing, and publication processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of a scholarly book manuscript for publication.
  • Conduct reference checking and ensure citation accuracy and consistency.
  • Perform brief, targeted research on relevant scholarly literature, policy documents, or historical materials.
  • Help organize bibliographic materials.
  • Attend and participate in regular project meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in Politics.
  • Either a Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS) major or minor or completion of coursework in WGSS.
  • Familiarity with social movements literature and practice.
  • In good academic standing and able to demonstrate the ability to manage independent research tasks.
  • Strong reading, writing, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with academic research or as a research assistant.
  • Familiarity with citation management tools (e.g., Zotero, EndNote).
  • Strong interest in feminist theory, critical theory, and/or gender and politics.
Pay Rate: $15.50
