Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
We are hiring for one full-time, permanent position located in Newport, Oregon.
What you will do:
In this position, you will serve as the assistant project leader for management of select Oregon commercial and recreational shellfish fisheries, engaging in a variety of tasks ranging from field research to data analysis and communication with stakeholders. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the sustainable management of shellfish resources and make a meaningful impact on marine conservation efforts.
This position requires a valid vehicle driver license, an acceptable driving record, and an Oregon boater education card obtained through the Oregon State Marine Board. As needed, this position must have or obtain a Hazardous Waste Operations Emergency Response training certification (HAZWOPER) if assigned, to respond to hazardous material spill events.

Minimum Qualifications:
In order to meet the qualifications, you must have one of the following options:
Option 1: 5 years of experience in biological sciences/natural resources performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included one year of at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports
Option 2: A Bachelor's degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework and two years of experience in biological sciences/natural resources performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included one year of at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports
Option 3: A Master's degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Bachelor's degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework and one year of experience in biological sciences/natural resources performing studies, research, or resource management activities in a fish or wildlife program that included one year of at least two of the following: gathering data, analyzing data, or preparing reports
Option 4: A Doctorate degree in Biology, Fisheries or Wildlife Science, or a closely-related Doctorate degree in biological/ecological sciences.
Note: The Master's degree/Doctorate and applicable work experience will be considered separately, and both the education and applicable experience may count toward minimum qualifications.
