The Role

 

The Associate Manager, Junior and College Tennis, reporting to the Managing Director, Strategy and Competition, and working alongside the Manager, Competitive Pathway, is responsible for the effective management, coordination, and promotion of USTA Eastern Junior and College Tennis competitive pathways and programs. This includes ensuring adherence to Junior tournament rules and regulations, providing exceptional customer service to stakeholders, and driving junior and collegiate participation, education, and awareness. Key responsibilities encompass junior competition, college tennis and Tennis On Campus, along with all associated managerial and administrative tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage the USTA Tennis On Campus program, encompassing college team and captain oversight, student-run tournament implementation, and Section Championship planning and execution.
  • Lead the growth and development of high school tennis by liaising with the high school task force.
  • Manage and expand sanctioning opportunities for team events on the Eastern Junior Tournament Schedule, aligning with competing programs and prioritizing growth.
  • Grow and develop RCX, Team Challenges, and Junior Team Tennis programs through implementation and support.
  • Serve as first contact for collegiate hubs and coordinate accountability efforts.
  • Recruit facilities and college campuses and tournament staff to host sanctioned tournaments.
  • Manage player eligibility, seeding and selection for required tournaments.
  • Collaborate with the Manager, Competitive Pathway, to educate and ensure consistent delivery of junior competitive play, adhering to USTA Eastern regulations. 
  • Manage and administer all aspects of junior tournaments, including Serve Tennis and Tournament Desk support, sanctioning, selection, scheduling, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide comprehensive customer service and support to tournament directors, coaches, players, and parents.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with various Eastern departments, fellow section and national counterparts, and other industry leaders to administer and enhance the competitive pathway.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the junior competition committee and respective subcommittees.
  • Create and maintain website content, newsletters, resource drives, webinars, in-person trainings, and other digital/printed materials to enhance the experience for all stakeholders.
  • Prepare and organize key annual events such as the college showcase day, inter and intra-team tournaments, and tournament director workshops.
  • Ensure all events and programs are compliant with sportsmanship, fair play, and Safe Play standards.
  • Maintain and track junior tournament participation, actively working to increase participation from both players and facilities.
  • Adhere to program budgets.
  • Travel as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director, Strategy and Competition.

  • Must be available for travel and pass USTA National Safe Play and USTA Eastern Section background checks.

The expected starting salary for this position is $64,350.  This does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.

Working Conditions: Full-time. Hybrid (work from home, with in-office requirements each month), and some nights and weekends.
