The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for this position will be part of a team of engineers responsible for designing, commercializing, and supporting manufacture of electronic Hearing Protection and Communication product solutions, primarily for the industrial marketplace. These exciting new systems will utilize various forms of electronics-based hardware, sensors and wireless technologies to deliver products that protect our customers from hazardous environments. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of commercializing electronics-based products/systems with interfacing software and must be current with technology trends and landscape.

- Responsible for supporting manufacture and quality of existing product portfolio
- Responsible for electronics/hardgoods design, development and commercialization of new electronics hardware/firmware embedded system based product solutions.
- Help translate VOC and business goals into tangible product design and system requirements.
- Serve as key team member.
- Plan and manage work to meet project plans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Serve as liaison between technical and non-technical departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Science from an accredited institution
(completed and verified prior to start)
- Four (4) years’ experience in product development and design of electronics-based products in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Proven success within product development teams
- Experience successfully translating customer requirements into design criteria and system specifications
- Experience with wireless technologies and related device interactions, microprocessors, hardware design, firmware, sensors, electro-mechanical systems, design for electronics manufacturing
- Experience with electro-acoustic design and validation
- Experience fabricating prototypes to assess manufacturability
- Broad awareness of global technology landscape
- Understanding of fabrication methods and manufacturing techniques.
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
- Experience with test systems
Work location:
Work location: This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Indianapolis, IN
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
