The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.
Position Summary: The HR Generalist works to optimize and ensure accuracy of internal HR processes. This role will assist directly with the hiring and onboarding process. This role will work with the HR Director to ensure data accuracy of the committee’s HRIS, Paylocity, and employee files.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a point of contact for employees on HR matters;
- Responds to and routes employee phone calls, emails, and in-person requests or concerns, as necessary;
- Conducts background checks and employee eligibility verifications;
- Assists in the coordination of the hiring process and recruitment efforts with hiring managers;
- Manages onboarding process for new hires and coordinates with the IT team and collaborates with the HR Director to remedy any issues as they arise during this process;
- Leads new hire orientation and activation;
- Inputs and maintains up-to-date records in various employee platforms;
- Assists in the reconciliation of all non-exempt employee timecards such as missed punches and ensures proper approval is acquired prior to payroll being ran;
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments;
- Responds to benefits inquiries from staff on benefit plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries; assists with the open enrollment process;
- Support all aspects of payroll operations;
- May attend/participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations;
- In collaboration with the HR Director handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff;
- Collaborates with the HR Director and consultants to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations;
- Work with the HR Director and Leadership in preparing a variety of written documents needed to communicate HR policies and procedures to staff;
- Keeps up to date on local, state, and federal labor laws;
- Provides support on confidential personnel issues;
- Assist with special projects and initiatives as needed.
Requirements
- At least two years of human resource management experience is required; preferably in the political/campaign atmosphere;
- SHRM-CP or PHR a plus;
- Experience in Employee Relations;
- Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices;
- Understanding of employment benefits including 401k;
- Experience with HRMS/HRIS systems required, Paylocity preferred;
- Experience with Asana project management platform preferred;
- Commitment to helping Democrats win the House majority;
