Job Summary

We’re seeking a Senior Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician to join our growing team. You will act as a Team Lead, responsible for performing preventative / corrective maintenance on our solar operations and for training other team members. We’re looking for a player and a coach - someone who can do the work alongside the team, especially for advanced troubleshooting, while also refining process documentation and developing training modules. 

 

You should be able to explain the big picture of the O&M functionality as it relates to the solar industry - what we’re doing and why it matters. You must have strong capabilities to analyze PV performance and troubleshoot potential issues remotely. The ideal candidate will also assist in implementation of a new data management system to automate priorities. This role reports to the Director of O&M. 

Job Responsibilities

• Prioritize O&M activities so that all projects maintain a minimum uptime of 95%
• Identify, record and correct issues and deficiencies with extreme precision and detail
• Work autonomously to successfully record work activities using the required applications and systems
• Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of Cherry Street Energy operations and maintenance systems
• Create new scalable systems and procedures with an entrepreneurial mindset
• Effectively work cross-departmentally to ensure collaboration and operational excellence
• Travel primarily limited to within the state of Georgia, some travel outside of the state may be required in the future

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience working in a lead role performing technical troubleshooting, system commissioning, and/or PV operations and maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years experience with PV systems in a field-based environment.
• Experience developing instructional documentation for field and computer-based processes.
• Experience using and maintaining electrical and mechanical testing equipment, including but not limited to torque tools, multimeters, insulation resistance testers, I-V curve tracers, thermal cameras, low-resistance ohmmeters and earth ground testers.
• Proficient command of digital tools and online platforms, including but not limited to Procore, Smartsheet, Google Enterprise, and CMMS software.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel, and the ability to learn new software platforms.
• Ability to communicate technical ideas in non-technical ways. 
• Proficient analytical skills with small data sets.
• Proficient communication and teamwork skills.
• Extreme attention to detail, both in creating process documentation and in field work. 
• Ability to travel to job sites across the state of GA and across the southeast 3-4 days a week and work in office at West Midtown Atlanta Headquarters the remaining days.

 

Extensive Knowledge Of

• PV Performance Monitoring Platforms - Wattch preferred, but any accepted (AlsoEnergy, Locus, EGauge, SolarSCADA, SMA SunnyPortal, SolarEdge, Enphase, etc) - and their use during commissioning, troubleshooting, and plant monitoring.
• Common causes of failure and under-performance for distributed generation PV systems.
• The National Electrical Code (NEC) 2014-2023 and its application to solar PV systems.
• NFPA 70B 2023 and its application to solar PV systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA-10 Certified
• NABCEP Certification for PV Installation Professional and/or Commissioning and Maintenance Specialist
