The Dr. Jamie Strange Bumble Bee Lab is seeking undergraduate research assistants to assist with lab and field work during the summer of 2025. Primary responsibilities of this position include bumble bee rearing and husbandry, as well as various lab and field tasks. Lab work will include performing dissections, conducting DNA extractions, running PCR assays, bee diet preparation, and ensuring the lab space is kept clean and organized. Fieldwork will include bumble bee collecting and vegetation surveys. Students will report directly to Dr. Jamie Strange and will be mentored by graduate students and post-docs throughout the duration of the summer.

This position is based in Columbus, with travel to field sites across Ohio, some of which may require overnight stays. Field work may be physically demanding and often takes place in hot, humid conditions. Qualified candidates must be comfortable working with live bees, and strong communication and organizational skills are highly preferred. A driver’s license is not required but would be an advantage.
