Job Description:

Summary
Iowa State University’s Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) is seeking to fill their Manager Learning Technology Support position. This position leads a team of instructional technologists, providing high-tier technical support services for enterprise-level instructional technologies and the institutional learning management system Canvas. Leadership, critical thinking, data-driven decision-making, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and excellent communication are critical qualities for ensuring success in this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of CELT instructional technologists.
  • Provide high-tier administrative oversight of Canvas.
  • In partnership with ITS, co-lead update and development prioritization for supported instructional technologies and Canvas.
  • Partner with academic and service units to facilitate conversations on technology-related policies and procedures impacting ISU’s teaching and learning infrastructure.
  • Facilitate communication with vendors of instructional technologies.
  • Initiate cross-unit collaborations and evaluate opportunities for analyzing data surrounding instructional technology applications at ISU.
  • Communicate technology updates to various stakeholders.
  • Research, test, and pilot new technologies and procedures.
  • Create and facilitate training for enterprise-level instructional technologies.


Level Guidelines
• Aware of key annual objectives of department or work unit
• Understands linkage between daily activities and achievement of annual objectives of department/work unit and explains to direct reports
• Focus on ISU’s mission and meeting department or work unit goals
• Supervises a small department or work team
• Often is a working supervisor with direct, previous experience performing work of those supervised
• Has full management responsibility for direct reports, specifically the authority to hire, fire, and counsel; may share part of responsibility with higher level management
• Requests approval for financial actions beyond a limited scope per policy

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
