The Senior Accountant will oversee balance sheet accounts and reports related to Lease Accounting to ensure they are reported accurately in the general ledger along with a variety of tasks within the Accounting Department assigned by the Assistant Controller and Accounting Director. The ideal candidate must possess a strong work ethic, be observant, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and be able to work independently with minimal supervision. The Senior Accountant must also be experienced in an accounting environment, have experience working with ASC 842, and demonstrate the ability to work proactively in a fast-paced office environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for managing ASC 842 lease accounting for the Company
- Prepare/review reconciliations for right-of-use assets and liabilities (under ASC 842) and other accrual accounts in compliance with GAAP standards
- Support the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes
- Post journal entries
- Work closely with various expense managers to ensure accurate month-end accruals are submitted timely
- Support the preparation of ad hoc reporting requirements and analysis
- Assist with preparation of audit work paper and schedules
- Demonstrates high level of quality work, attendance and appearance.
- Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism in communication, attitude and teamwork with customers, peers and management.
- Adhere to all local, federal and state laws in addition to Company policies, procedures, and practices.
- Performs any other duties that may be assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Strong communication, customer service, time management and organizational skills.
- Accounting degree required, CPA a plus
- 3-5 years of accounting experience
- 1-2 years of experience working with ASC 842
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize and work independently
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel Skills
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus
