Job Description:  

The Geotechnical Transportation Engineer II is a licensed position providing geotechnical engineering services for bridge projects of varying complexity.

Preliminary geotechnical tasks include:

  • Overseeing and inspecting subsurface exploration programs,
  • Developing lab testing programs,
  • Evaluating subsurface conditions,
  • Development of bridge foundation alternatives,
  • Identification of pertinent geotechnical aspects.

Final design tasks include:

  • Completing geotechnical engineering evaluations,
  • Preparation of geotechnical design reports and calculation packages and,
  • Producing specifications and details for geotechnical items.

This position will require field work to monitor subsurface exploration programs and to provide support to construction personnel on geotechnical construction activities.

To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:

Licensure as a Professional Engineer which includes at least two (2) years of work experience which demonstrates independent design, engineering analysis based on established standards, and progressively responsible work overseeing complex engineering projects with increased accountability.

Licensing/Registration/Certification Requirements: (These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).

Licensure as a professional engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers.
