Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Laser and Electro-Optical Systems (LEOS) is looking for highly skilled and adaptable Senior Project Engineers to join our team in Albuquerque, NM., to provide project leadership to multi-disciplinary team supporting the development of both directed energy and electro-optical systems.

The selected Project Engineer will provide engineering project leadership to a highly technical development team. Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; (Level 5 & Level 6) Senior Project Engineers.

Position Responsibilities:

• Provide the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers

• Develop statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements  

• Work with customers and management to obtain approval

• Identify and manage changes to statement of work and assesses the impact of those changes, and incorporates changes into statement of work

• Negotiate proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules

• Lead project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics

• Plans identify and coordinate resources required over the life of the project or program

• Assign responsibility for activities to team members and ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services

• Direct proposal development to complete the work statement

• Compare actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity, and lessons learned

• Identify corrective actions to improve project or team performance

• Provide technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans

• Work under consultative direction

• Occasional travel as needed

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

• Senior (Level 5) Bachelor’s degree and 14+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 12+ years of related work experience or PhD and 9+ years of related work experience (i.e., engineering experience)

• Senior (Level 6) Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of related work experience or Master’s degree and 18+ years of related work experience or PhD and 15+ years of related work experience (i.e., engineering experience)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Proficient at costing, scheduling, detailed program planning, risk management, subcontract management, earned value reporting and proposal response preparation

• Self starter with essential multi-tasking skills and the ability to perform in an environment with minimal supervision and guidance

• Able to effectively interact throughout all levels of the organization and customer community and manage diverse cross functional teams comprised of exempt, nonexempt and hourly personnel
