The Gibbs Lab is hiring a research technician to conduct research in conservation genetics, help collect genetic data for endangered species in Ohio and perform other computer-based tasks. Candidate will collect, analyze and interpret biological and genomic data; conduct software and data management; write and edit scientific reports and publications. The position requires experience in, or desire to learn, statistics and/or scripting in R and Unix for genomics; a willingness to learn and apply new techniques and concepts; ability to meet deadlines; self-motivation and can work in a both self-directed and team-based manner. Opportunities will exist to help with manuscript writing.

Required: Bachelor's Degree in evolutionary biology, or related field or equivalent experience. Applicants must be detail oriented and is able to work both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision. 

Desired: A master’s degree in evolutionary biology is preferred.

Additional Information:

The duration of this position is 2 months with no potential for extension.

Successful candidate will join an active lab working in conservation genetics in the Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology (http://eeob.osu.edu).

The pay range for this job profile is $17.31 - $22.77. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
