Job Description Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Business Development will support the search and evaluation of new in-licensing, out licensing and acquisition opportunities, to augment and leverage PTC’s portfolio. The incumbent will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams in the search and evaluation of business development opportunities through generating insights, building commercial forecasts, and collaborating with internal stakeholders on due diligence teams.

The Sr. Manager, Business Development ensures adherence to relevant regulatory requirements and company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as appropriate.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Primary duties/responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess in and out licensing opportunities in line with strategic direction of the company

  • Support cross-functional search, evaluation, and diligence teams and negotiate transactions

  • Assist with building commercial assessments of business development opportunities (e.g., disease profiles, defining existing and emerging standard of care, identifying key unmet needs, mapping the competitive landscape, and developing product profiles)

  • Build robust revenue and NPV models and sensitivity analyses, partner with finance team to inform opportunity P&L

  • Update and maintain business development intelligence system to monitor industry landscape

  • Support search and evaluation for drug development partnerships for PTC proprietary technologies

  • Perform other tasks and assignments as needed and specified by management

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED

* Minimum level of education and years of relevant work experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, consulting or related environment OR 5-7 years equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

* Special knowledge or skills needed and/or licenses or certificates required.

  • Experience evaluating commercial aspects of opportunities for licensing, partnership, acquisition, or divestment

  • Strong strategic and analytical abilities to assess opportunities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and skills including the ability to create and deliver clear and impactful presentations and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly

  • Strong communication skills and demonstrated cross-functional collaboration to effectively lead opportunity evaluation and diligence teams

  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects

  • Ability to influence without direct authority including demonstrated functional integration skills such as motivating and securing project commitment from cross-functional evaluation teams not in a direct reporting line.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft platform (Office, Excel. Teams, Notes, Delve)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members

  • Analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines

*Special knowledge or skills and/or licenses or certificates preferred.

  • Advanced degree or MBA preferred

  • Experience in rare/orphan disease and/or drug development platform out licensing

* Travel requirements

  • Travel requirements – 10%% including domestic and international travel

  • Office based position
