The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Senior Technical Supervisor you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Collaborating with the laboratory manager, platform leaders, and partner divisions to formulate strategy, set technical direction, develop an opportunity hopper, and establish commercialization paths.
Coaching platform leads (and aspiring platform leads) to enhance performance
Hiring, managing, and deploying research staff for high-impact programs, and develop HR plans, including identifying necessary skill sets, creating progression/succession plans, and establishing relationships with key sources and future talent
Driving compliant, safe, and sustainable laboratory improvements.
Developing IP strategies for technical programs, manage IP portfolios
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
PhD degree (completed and verified prior to start) in a science or engineering discipline from an accredited university
Minimum five (5) years experience in industrial research and development
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or Materials Science from an accredited university
Five (5) years of industrial experience developing new materials technologies
Experience with adhesives and polymer science technology development
New technology development experience and experience driving technologies into NPI programs
Technology development experience working with multiple 3M divisions and across the CRL organization
Experience leading cross-functional teams
Excellent problem-solving and analysis skills
Results driven, self-motivated and strong team skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Work location:
- On-site: 3M Center Maplewood
Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $164,612 - $201,193, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
