Job Description

NBCUniversal is looking for a Director, Production & Technical Operations: Studios to join our Rockefeller Center Operations Team in New York City! In this role, you will oversee studio operations for News at 30 Rockefeller Plaza. You have a variety of competencies including project management, event operations, meticulous follow-through, comprehensive organizational skills, acute attention to detail, and superior judgment. You also have a reliable business sense pertaining to studio operations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage an employee population supporting News operations for studios which contains managers, camera operators, specialty cameras, audio assists, and stage managers.
  • Understand technology changes in studio operations such as camera models and types, augmented and virtual reality sets, as well as XR studios and how the operation can change in each.
  • Cultivate client relationships for customer success.
  • Maintain fiscal management of labor budgets for Staff, NABET, and DGA.
  • Develop and execute strategies to offset costs and volume annually.
  • Streamline processes to increase reliability.
  • Increase Talent Pipeline for all assignments. 
  • Strengthen the organization by fostering growth and culture with frontline managers, and technical staff.
  • Provide On-Air Support.
  • Work closely with engineering to ensure all equipment and production facilities meet client expectations.
  • Develop, Execute and Maintain Disaster Recovery plans for all News Brands.

What You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 7+ years of experience in a media production operations environment
  • Proven experience working in a deadline driven environment
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proficient in Office 365 tools such as Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Willingness to travel and work overtime and on weekends with short notice

What Would Make You a Stand-out:

  • Experience with live and multi-camera television production environments, including knowledge of studio and control room operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, especially with emerging media companies.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Expert ability in multitasking on air and business needs.

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.
