PURPOSE

The College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) is proposing to establish a dedicated office to focus on midstream research. This position will play a critical role in fostering partnerships with the midstream industry, securing research funds, and advancing the college’s mission to become a leader in energy related research and innovation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Partnership Development: 50%

  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the midstream industry, including companies, industry associations, and government agencies.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the college and the midstream industry, identifying and responding to research needs and opportunities.
  • Represent the college at industry events, conferences, and meetings to build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts.

Program Management: 40%

  • Proactively identify and secure external funding sources, including grants, contracts, and partnerships, to support midstream research initiatives.
  • Develop and submit competitive research proposals in collaboration with faculty, targeting federal agencies, industry partners, and other funding bodies.
  • Manage the budgeting and financial planning of midstream research projects to ensure efficient use of resources and successful project outcomes.

Project Funding Acquisition: 10%

  • Oversee the administrative functions of the midstream research office, including project management, reporting, and compliance with funding requirements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to grow the office's capabilities and influence.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS degree in petroleum engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience with the midstream industry
  • Excellent written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced training in business, e.g., MBA.
  • Demonstrated experience in securing funding from the midstream industry
