About Us:
At the forefront of medical discovery as it relates to understanding the causes of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and dementia, Pennington Biomedical Research Center is a campus of Louisiana State University and conducts basic, clinical and population research. The Center includes Basic Science, Clinical Research, and Population and Public Health, enabling both focused research and translational science. Research at Pennington Biomedical is supported broadly by multiple NIH Research Centers, and includes approximately 65 faculty and 20 postdoctoral fellows who comprise a network of 44 laboratories and 13 highly specialized core service facilities. Pennington Biomedical is located within state-of-the-art research facilities on a 222-acre campus in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Job Description:
Pennington Biomedical Research Center, a world-renowned academic research institute of Louisiana State University, is seeking an Assistant Professor in Basic Science.
Pennington Biomedical Research Center invites candidate applications for a basic scientist (Ph.D.) at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will join a highly dynamic and collegial research environment with generous laboratory space, state-of-the-art core facilities, and an environment that supports multidisciplinary collaboration. The candidate will be expected to develop an innovative and externally funded research program in an area relevant to understanding the metabolic basis of disease. The successful candidate will receive a competitive start-up package and be supported by an NIH funded COBRE award. This grant supports the research, training and mentoring of junior faculty. Strong preference will be given to candidates that would utilize our Basic Science core facilities. Candidates that are typically underrepresented in Biomedical Sciences are particularly encouraged to apply.
Major Responsibilities
Develop and lead an independent research program in metabolic diseases.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.
Participate in the education of postdoctoral fellows.
Required Qualifications
PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline
Outstanding postdoctoral record of high impact research achievements
