About The Opportunity

The Digital Press Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a digital flatbed printing press according to written and/or verbal instructions, established company procedures, safety and quality guidelines.

Essential Functions:

•  Demonstrate commitment to safety and perform job duties in accordance with company safety policies and procedures
• Demonstrate commitment to quality and perform job duties in adherence to GMP guidelines
• Be aware of responsibilities and accountability as clearly defined for key staff involved with product safety, legality, and quality systems
• Understand job ticket information to determine quantity, special work instructions, and any other special customer requirements
• Determine the best manufacturing method to produce product efficiently and effectively
• Verify job specifications such as size, color and type of paper and color of ink from job order
• Obtain substrate and related supplies needed to produce job
• Set up press according to established company guidelines, safety and job requirements
• Print proof sheets to check press setup
• Adjust and/or correct color when needed using press setup, Photoshop, Illustrator, or Press Touch to achieve company and customer satisfaction
• Print job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and quality standard within company and customer guidelines, and make press adjustments as required
• Maintain high efficiency according to established rates during operation of the assigned equipment Select and maintain a file of approved press sheets of all jobs for future reference
• Troubleshoot and make decisions regarding the quality of finished product
• Complete required quality inspections and paperwork
• Work with peers and other departments to improve quality and performance
• Play an active role in the maintenance and cleanliness of the assigned press and surrounding area Understand department communication systems, schedules, time/attendance system and job reporting requirements
• Actively participate in lean manufacturing initiatives
• Perform other duties as assigned by management/supervisors

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Safety sensitive position – ability to work in a constant state of alertness and a safe manner
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as required based upon the needs of the business
• Ability to work on a rotating shift as needed
• Ability to effectively work in teams
• Ability to work in a production-based environment with moving equipment and people
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of roles
• Mechanical aptitude
• Good eye for color
• Understand and perform basic math
• Ability to perform all computer functions as they pertain to the job
• Prepress knowledge helpful

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent

Shift:

• Rotating 1 and 2nd.
