Business Unit Sales Representative

POSITION SUMMARY

A Sales Representative is the customer facing function of our organization. Responsible for traveling, visiting, and communicating as necessary and engage prospects, leads, and customers to secure orders and shipments. Each Sales Representative is also responsible for obtaining all order and shipment data for our customer service team, so that details are visible to our Operations team within our TMS. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:

1. Regularly and routinely required to work off site and travel to visit prospects, leads, and customers to obtain orders, maintain business and generate new business 
2. Field and place customer calls and emails to accept orders and shipments and provide shipment updates when needed
3. Engage customers daily via phone, e-mail, or face-to-face meetings
4. Provide rates to customers for potential orders and shipments
5. Update customer websites with order and shipment information
6. Communicate shipment changes and status between the customer and our Operations team
7. Ability to stay focused in a busy, loud environment
8. Ability to prioritize and multi-task between multiple accounts at any given time during the day

OTHER SIGNIFICANTJOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

1. Must be cross-trained on other Customer accounts, to ensure we have coverage when primary Account Reps are unavailable (lunch, gym, out of the office)
2. Input shipments in TMW & schedule appointments (reschedule appointments when needed)
3. Regular and predictable attendance
4. Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations.
5. Additional duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED

PREFERRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience

REQUIRED SKILLS (TECHNICAL, CLERICAL, LANGUAGE, ETC.)

• General computer skills- typing, emailing, faxing
• Ability to describe our services in a professional language 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. Travel including car and plane.
