ABOUT THE JOB

As an Environmental Data Scientist Intern, you will be responsible for supporting environmental investigations and compliance efforts at various client facilities nationwide.  Job activities will include assisting project manager and other environmental scientists with data collection and input from field activities and technical reports, data standardization, data quality reviews, data tracking, data reporting, and database management. This position will also support GIS staff with data management activities. This internship is a paid opportunity for a duration of 10-12 weeks. The work schedule will be approximately 40 hours a week dependent on workload and your school schedule.

• Provides support activities such as review of environmental technical reports, summarizing data from technical reports, updating databases.
• Conducts data mining and data digitization from historic and new technical reports and databases.
• Supports ongoing data tracking efforts, updating environmental databases, and providing quality assurance reviews.  
• Supports GIS staff with data standardization and dataset development.
• Performs sampling at client locations nationwide.
• Prepares draft technical reports and data summarization materials.
• Direct interaction with client at client sites

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

• Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Environmental Studies, Data Sciences, Geographic Information Sciences, Chemistry, or related field (preferred).
• Applicant must be within two years of completing degree.
• Self-motivated individual with strong, organizational, problem solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
