Position Summary
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering (CCEE) is recruiting a non-tenure-track, renewable contract position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, beginning Fall 2025. Exceptional applicants are sought who have a passion for teaching and curriculum development across the field of architectural, civil, construction and environmental engineering. The CCEE department offers ABET/EAC accredited Bachelor of Science degrees in civil engineering, construction engineering, architectural engineering, and environmental engineering. The department also offers six minors in the areas of architectural, civil, construction, environmental and water resources, transportation, and structural engineering. At the graduate level, the department offers the Master of Science in civil engineering, the Master of Science in environmental engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy in civil engineering. The department also supports two dual-degree graduate programs – the joint MSCE/MBA and joint MSCE/JD.
Detailed Position Information
The Department of Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at The University of Alabama (https://cce.eng.ua.edu/) invites applications for a non-tenure-track, renewable contract faculty position at the assistant professor level in domains relevant to architectural, civil, construction and environmental engineering, with preference for candidates in the geotechnical engineering area. Primary duties of the successful candidate will include teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate-level CCEE courses, as well as first-year and capstone design courses. This will include associated supporting activities as assessment, continuous improvement of course materials, and appropriate service roles in the department.

Appointments to the faculty of The University of Alabama are based on the personnel requirements of the University’s academic programs and on the goal of achieving and maintaining excellence in its teaching, research, and service/academic citizenship activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in civil engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution by the date of appointment. Professional engineering licensure in civil engineering or a closely related field in the U.S. by the date of appointment. Prior teaching experience at the university level is also required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in geotechnical engineering and promoting organizational safety culture and collegiality is preferred. Experience mentoring undergraduate students and student organizations is also preferred.
