POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Safety Director is a senior leader responsible for setting strategic direction and overseeing the execution of comprehensive health and safety programs across multiple business verticals. This position leads large, multidisciplinary teams and ensures organizational alignment with regulatory standards, industry best practices, and internal policies. The Safety Director plays a key leadership role in risk management, process safety management, incident response, regulatory engagement, and continuous improvement across construction, manufacturing, and service operations. This role requires a visionary leader who can build and sustain a proactive safety culture while driving operational excellence through influence, collaboration, and innovation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop and lead enterprise-wide safety strategies that align with organizational goals and values.

Oversee and support the performance and development of EHS teams across all divisions.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, ISO 45001, and other applicable regulatory and conformance standards.

Guide the implementation of Process Safety Management (PSM) systems where applicable.

Lead enterprise risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations at the executive level.

Provide executive reports on key safety metrics, trends, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Partner with business leaders to embed safety into operational planning, project execution, and design.

Serve as the organization's primary safety liaison with regulatory agencies and industry associations.

Champion safety training, leadership engagement, and change management efforts across business units.

Identify emerging risks, technologies, and regulatory trends to keep the organization ahead of the curve.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (required)

Master’s degree in Safety, Risk Management, or Business Administration (preferred)

Experience:

Minimum 10 years of progressive leadership experience in EHS, including multi-site and multi-sector oversight.

Proven success managing safety in high-risk industries such as construction, industrial manufacturing, or utilities.

Deep experience with regulatory frameworks, audit processes, and enterprise-level PSM implementation.
