**While we support a remote work environment, this position will require an weekly on-site presence in Owosso, MI.**
ABOUT THE POSITION
Our Human Resources (HR) department is a strategic pillar, playing a key role in enhancing employee experiences across all levels of the organization. We are trusted by employees for our informed, professional, and efficient services that drive both HR administration and strategic initiatives.
The HR Generalist is a skilled and people-focused team player. The position supports day-to-day operations of the HR function, handling areas such as onboarding, employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, compliance, and HR policy implementation. This role is essential to ensuring a positive employee experience while upholding company values and HR best practices, and it offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with employee relations, including conflict resolution and fostering positive workplace interactions.
Communicate and enforce organizational policies, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws.
Maintain employee records and support HR systems management with accuracy and confidentiality.
Generate reports and analyze HR metrics to identify trends, support process improvement, and guide decision-making.
Participate in HR projects and initiatives that align with organizational goals.
Coordinate and facilitate departmental training and employee development programs.
- Implement new hire orientation and support employee recognition and development programs.
- Assist with leave and workers’ compensation administration, ensuring accurate tracking and regulatory compliance.
Support health and safety programs, ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations.
Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and business lines to deliver customized HR support and services, while streamlining processes for greater efficiency.
- Serve as a backup for benefits, payroll, and other HR teams to ensure seamless HR operations.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience working directly in the human resources; such as human resource administration, employee relations, benefit administration, and compliance.
- Familiarity with HRIS systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; along with organizational and time management skills with a strong attention to detail.
- Proven ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, adapt to fast-changing environments, and grow within the role.
- The majority of your time will be spent at a desk using a phone, computer and monitor, and general office equipment. You may be required to reach with hands and arms; sit; stand; talk and hear; use your hands to finger, handle or feel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- SHRM-CP or PHR Certification
- Experience with JIRA, Confluence, APD, Pingboard
- Deep understanding of employment regulations such as FMLA, FLSA, ADA, and EEOC guidelines.
