Procurement Specialist


REPORTS TO: Chief Technology Officer 


JOB OBJECTIVES: (Purpose of the position):
To requisition and purchase supplies, equipment, materials, and parts used in the schools and
technology department.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Functions essential to attaining job objectives):


Strategic Goal Area I�Student Achievement
1. Prepare student participation spreadsheets to use when allocating the amount of
commodity parts to be delivered to each location.


Strategic Goal Area II�Stakeholder Engagement and Loyalty
1. Communicate effectively with Coordinator of Technology, Bookkeepers and School
Administrators.


Strategic Goal Area III�Efficient and Effective Operational Processes
1. Receives, examines, and processes requisitions, prepares bid specifications and
other necessary documents related to the purchase.
2. Compares costs and evaluates the quality and suitability of product.
3. Corresponds with vendors. Keeps informed of new products and market
conditions and trends.
4. Confers with and assists the Coordinator of Technology in determining
purchasing needs and specifications.
5. Confers with State Department to ensure procurement process is properly
followed.
6. Maintains records containing copy of bid request sent, all respondents, and
company bid was awarded to.
7. Analyzes purchasing trends to determine if an agency contract or statewide
contract would benefit the system.
8. Assist Coordinator of Technology with technology processing and ordering.

9. Assists the CTO with ERate Process


Strategic Goal Area IV�Continuous System and School Improvement
1. Monitor the cost and financial impact of purchases to the Technology
Department Program.


OTHER EXPECTATIONS
1. Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia
2. Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance.
3. Complete assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with
the Coordinator of Technology.
4. Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records and file reports promptly
5. Maintain confidentiality of information and records for students and staff
6. Communicate effectively with students, peers, and administrators, parents, and the
public.
7. Exhibit stellar interpersonal skills by projecting a positive image when dealing with
students, peers, administrators, parents and the public.
8. Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs.


JOB STANDARDS (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions):
1. High School Diploma
2. Skills in writing bid specifications
3. Ability to communicate well
4. Organizational skills
5. Knowledge and experience of how the school technology department operates and
allowances for the use of school funds.

Telephone, Copier, Computer, Calculator

1. Computer Skills � creating spreadsheets, cell formatting, formulas
2. Organization skills and Record keeping
3. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors,
suppliers, and manufacturers
4. Effective communication and telephone skills
