About the RoleThe Human Resources Manager will plan, direct and coordinate the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department within the state of Michigan including but not limited to, hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, employee relations and enforcing company policies and practices. This position will work closely with the national human resources team in managing HR policies, programs, functions and activities.
This position runs through at least December 12, 2024.

This position will work closely with the national human resources team in managing HR policies, programs, functions and activities.

Essential Functions
- Partners with the state leadership team to understand and execute Michigan’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview, and select qualified applicants.
- Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of staff relating to employment, compensation, payroll, labor relations, and employee relations.
- Serve as a resourceful link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering offer letters and helping resolve work-related problems.
- Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as hires, transfers, performance appraisals, and absenteeism rates.
- Provide current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion, and employee benefit.
- Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform and support employees with the FOF’s benefit programs.
- Support the administration and execution of routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees, in collaboration with the national human resources team.
- Support supervisors in their role of supporting, evaluating, and training staff.
- Coordinate with state leadership, hiring managers and operations staff to facilitate new hire onboarding and ensure new hires complete all required documentation and training.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the specific department, in collaboration with hiring managers.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the human resources function within their state.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management or any related field, required.
- At least 3 years of Human Resources experience.
