Student - Martindale Brightwood CDC Real Estate & Community Development Intern

The Real Estate and Community Development Intern will support the Real Estate Department by assisting
with urban planning, research, project coordination, and community engagement activities. This internship
provides hands on exposure to real estate development, affordable housing, and the role community
development organizations play in strengthening neighborhoods.

Organization Overview

• The Martindale-Brightwood Community Development Corporation (MBCDC) is a nonprofit organization
• working to strengthen the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood in Indianapolis through housing development,

• small business development, workforce development, home preservation, and resident-focused programs.

  Role

   

   

  Overview

• The Real Estate and Community Development Intern will support the Real Estate Department by assisting
• with urban planning, research, project coordination, and community engagement activities. This internship
• provides hands on exposure to real estate development, affordable housing, and the role community
• development organizations play in strengthening neighborhoods.
• Reports to: Senior Director of Real Estate
• Hours: 10-15 hours per week
• Location: In-Person/ Occasional Field Work
• Semester: Fall 2026

• Compensation: $15/hour

   

   

  Intern Responsibilities

• Assist with research and project support related to housing development, property rehabilitation, and
• neighborhood revitalization initiatives.
• Support coordination of real estate projects by helping track progress, organize project materials, and
• document construction updates and site visits.
• Assist with community engagement and program activities, including events, workshops, and

• initiatives that support neighborhood development and homeownership opportunities.

   

   

  Qualifications and

  Eligibility

• Current undergraduate student pursuing a degree at Butler University in Economics, Finance, Political Science, Communications, Public Affairs, Business, or with an interest in development, community
• engagement, or real estate.
• No prior experience required. Students with a strong interest in housing, real estate development,

• Community planning, or neighborhood revitalization are encouraged to apply.

   

   

  Preferred Skills

• Research and data analysis skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Strong writing and documentation abilities
• Interest in real estate development, housing, or urban planning, ability to assist with basic financial
• Analysis, including project budgets, development costs, and real estate pro forma review
