Description

Cedar Crest College is accepting applications for a full-time Assistant Program Director (APD) in our School of Nursing to assist with the daily operations of our Doctorate of Nursing in Anesthesia program and assure compliance with the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia educational programs and guidelines.  Responsibilities will include teaching in the nurse anesthesia program, assisting with program and curriculum development, and student advising. The position also involves related duties such as college committee work, School of Nursing and departmental duties, and continuing professional development.

The Assistant Program Director supports the Director of the Nurse Anesthesia DNP Program to assure the quality and manage the program's operations. The program operation includes leading curriculum review and revision, overseeing student recruitment, enrollment, matriculation, graduation, advising, and program evaluation. The successful applicant will also manage the recruitment and registration process in coordination with the program director, the Associate Director of Enrollment and the School of Adult and Graduate Education (SAGE) office.

The APD also supports the Program Director in overseeing and coordinating accreditation activities by coordinating an ongoing review process to assess program outcomes and activities. The APD assists in developing, supervising, and coordinating course curriculum and other NAP faculty workload as well as managing student performance and retention processes, developing and implementing a tactical plan in coordination with other college personnel, and assuming teaching load, along with participating in program development and other College services. 

Our three-year program includes cohorts of 25 students and boasts excellent clinical sites at the region’s premier healthcare systems. A multimillion-dollar state-of-the-art Nursing Simulation Center provides realistic practice settings such as critical-care patient rooms, a preoperative assessment room, and a functional operating room for student learning.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate degree and possess active certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) with demonstrated skills in nurse anesthesia education and clinical practice. Qualified applicants must have a minimum of three years of clinical experience; graduate preparation in the basic and clinical sciences relevant to nurse anesthesia practice; and prior classroom teaching experience. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills as a member of the School of Nursing are essential. Candidates with expertise in simulation and prior experience with program and curriculum development are strongly preferred.  Applicants must also have knowledge of certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) practice and professional issues.
