The below job summary and responsibilities reflect the duties of the Transportation Schedule Analyst, Senior Transportation Scheduler Analyst will differ as more skills and/or experience will be required. The successful candidate will be placed at a level that is commensurate with the candidate's skills and experience.

Position Summary

Schedule and nominate gas supply, transportation, and storage volumes on a 24/7 basis. Ensure supplies and transportation services for LDC and generation needs are properly nominated on transportation pipelines. Work with natural gas sellers in accurately submitting matching nominations and resolve disputes with sellers and transporters regarding volume and location discrepancies. Ensure nominations optimize the available transportation capacities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Accurately schedule and nominate gas supply, transportation, and storage volumes for Xcel Energy. Ensure nominations to pipeline accurately and effectively use available transportation contracts. Attention to detail is essential because inaccurate nominations could lead to loss of service to customers.

  • Optimize the utilization of transportation and storage contracts on a daily or hourly basis with decreasing levels of supervision based on experience. Ability to learn extensive knowledge of the complicated pipeline systems of transporters and expert knowledge of Xcel Energy contracts. Ensure nomination and scheduling deadlines are met on a daily and hourly basis while verifying compliance with all gas supply agreements under absolute deadlines.

  • Confirm nominations with transporter and seller. Investigate and resolve nomination discrepancies and reschedule supply and transportation volumes as necessary. Take immediate actions to ensure nomination and scheduling deadlines are met on a daily and hourly basis, while verifying compliance with all gas supply agreements. Perform analysis in real-time to ensure reliable gas and electric service.

  • With increasing levels of independence, ensure compliance with all volume and location terms and conditions of the transportation and storage agreements. Ensure Xcel Energy does not incur penalties or reduce the reliability of the delivery and generation systems as a result of inadequate gas supplies.

  • Perform accurate and timely updating of volume, transportation rates, and contract information in the transaction management system.

  • Provide weekend on-call scheduling coverage on a rotating basis.


Minimum Requirements - Transportation Scheduler Analyst - ($71,900 - $102,100)

  • BS degree in Business, Logistics, or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a logistics-based industry.

  • Minimum of 1 year natural gas or logistics-based industry experience.

  • High competency in Microsoft Office Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to handle time-pressured deadlines to schedule gas on an hourly and daily basis with reduced levels of oversight over time.

  • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and planning skills as well as effective interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

  • This position requires working before/after regular office hours including rotating on-call holidays and weekends.

Minimum Requirements - Senior Transportation Scheduler Analyst - ($82,800 - $117,600)

  • BS degree in Business, Logistics, or other related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a logistics-based industry.

  • Minimum of 5 years combined experience in natural gas scheduling, energy, or logistics, of which at least 3 years should be in a gas scheduling or related position.

  • High competency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Must be able to handle time-pressured deadlines on an hourly and daily basis.

  • Strong organizational, attention to detail, and planning skills as well as effective interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.

  • This position requires working before/after regular office hours including rotating on-call holidays and weekends.
